Hello all.
A long time has passed since last blog, and a lot has happend. Flights went fairly well, except being squashed down in the last row of a Lufthansa flight from Singapore to Munich. We arived in fairly good spirits and once in Bressanone, we were taken to our accommodation. It turned out to be a fairly old (approx 800 years) castle. A few days went by of getting used to the surrounds, and that time seemed to fly. We went to an opening ceremony, which was quite cool, with all nations (180ish) attending. Competition so far has been to an extremly high level, with some being almost as high as olympic level. The most exciting NZ athlete at the moment would be Frazer Wickes making the 400m Final, which is held tomorrow i think. Also Julia came 10th in the hammer today. There were many other great performances. My fellow Scots College student James Hutchens failed to board, recording all no-jumps, but can take a lot away from his effort, especially for the last jump which was easily over 7m. My 1500m heat in my mind was quite so-so. I came 8th in it, in a time of 3.56, and failed to make the final. Racing track over here I have found is quite different, and takes some getting used to. I have found that the African runners have a tendancy to just 'go for it' rather than speed up gradually. It is also much much more physical, (pushing etc). I am fully yet to analyse the race, and even i havnt seen my splits.
Anyway, just a check in to the blog. I may end up posting more in the next few days.
I trust all is well with everybody at home.
Nathan
p.s. sorry for the spelling/punctuation mistakes. The spell check is in Italian, it is late, and I am still drained from the race.
Goodnight

Hey Nathan,
ReplyDeleteWeldone on your performance. We are very proud of you. As you have cleary stated, its all a very big learning lesson, and the best thing you can do is analyse it, learn from it and make sure to nail the next performance. Although you may not be happy with the time, the experience in itself is great and i hope that you are proud of yourself.
Enjoy the rest of your trip....keep us posted on how the team gets on.
Look forward to catching up when you get home.
Luv B and Amy
